Overview
Central nervous system stimulants increase activity in the brain by enhancing the effects of dopamine and norepinephrine. They are primarily used to treat ADHD and narcolepsy.
How do cns stimulants work?
CNS stimulants work by blocking the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine, or by increasing their release into the synaptic cleft, leading to increased alertness, attention, and energy.
